SANYA

  • Brush up on your Russian
  • Shop like an oligarch
  • Shoot pool in an American-style pub

Wander down the street in Dadonghai area, and you’ll notice that neon signs marking restaurants, shops, and massage parlors are in Cyrillic. Pop by the Summer Mall, one of the first developments in Sanya from Singapore investors, where Russians come to spend their rubles on luxury goodies from Prada, Gucci, Mont Blanc, and Tissot. Shopping bags filled, head down the street for a bite to eat at the Dolphin Bar. Of all the spots on this neon-lit strip, this American-style sports bar is known for its party vibe, burgers, and cocktails. Shoot pool or stay until the wee hours of the night listening to live music. The local servers speak excellent English (a rarity on the island) and are quick to refresh drinks. A favorite of locals and in-the-know visitors, it’s also where hotel and restaurant managers come to hang out and unwind.

Take a 45-minute cab ride to downtown Dadonghai. Taxis are abundant in the downtown area so you’ll easily catch one back to the Conrad.
